Jacobi Carbons supply high quality Resinex™ ion exchange
resins as spherical beads to stringently controlled particle
size specifications. Proven manufacturing technology is
used in combination with technically advanced processing
techniques to produce Resinex™ ion exchange resins for
use in a wide range of applications.
Resinex™ ion exchange resins are proven to provide
high capacity, excellent mechanical stability, low pressure
drop and consistently reliable performance. Principal
usages include industrial and commercial softening,
decarbonisation, catalysis, decolorisation, demineralisation,
drinking water treatment, purification of liquid sweeteners,
removal of contaminants from electroplating effluent, waste
water treatment and numerous additional applications.
Resinex™ ion exchange resins are manufactured using
high quality raw materials, each stage of the production
process is monitored and subject to detailed quality
analysis. As a result of these stringent procedures the
appropriate Resinex™ ion exchange resins are approved
and certified to meet the requirements of European Council
Resolution AP 97 (1), the US FDA regulation CFR Section
21 § 173.25 and several additional international
standards.

Softening for Industrial, Residential Water and Food Applications
High purity water of consistent quality is considered a fundamental
requirement in many industrial manufacturing operations. Due to
the importance of consistent water quality supply, on site treatment
facilities are routinely installed. Subject to individual site requirements,
Resinex™ ion exchange resins may be installed in filter operations
as the principal treatment stage, or form part of a multi-stage water
treatment plant.
During the softening process the hardness causing components
(calcium and magnesium) will be exchanged for sodium by using
a strong acid cation exchange resin such as the Resinex™ K-8. This
is done without changing the total salt content (neutral exchange).
Resinex™ K-8 is specifically designed for softening of process
water and meets European Resolution AP97(1).
Resinex™ KW-8 is specially washed for immediate use in drinking
water and food grade applications (i.e. without further pretreatment).
This material meets European Resolution AP97(1), US FDA CFR 21 § 173.25 and numerous additional international standards.

Deionisation
Numerous industrial manufacturing plants operate high pressure steam boilers for power generation and
process operating requirements. The quality of the feed water required for high pressure steam boilers is
critical and requires stringent control. High performance deionization systems based on Resinex™ ion
exchange resins are used to achieve the necessary feed water quality, required for efficient operation and
protection against scaling.
A special range of Resinex™ ion exchange resins has been developed for the treatment of feed water used
in high pressure boiler applications, which are flexible for installation in established filter designs.
Resinex™ ion exchange resins provide high total capacity and excellent mechanical properties. Various
bead size specifications are available to meet individual plant requirements.

Steam Condensate Polishing
Water is the most important resource in the world and the usage of this resource by industry continues to
increase. In order to secure the supply for future generations the recovery and recycling of water becomes
increasingly necessary.
One of the most important areas of use by industry is power generation and subsequent recycling of steam
condensate by use of Resinex™ ion exhcnage resins, minimizing the need for make up and optimizing process
economics.
The high temperature and linear velocities applied during condensate treatment require an increased mechanical
strength from the Resinex™ ion exchange resin to provide extended bed life. Materials used in this application
are Resinex™ KP and Resinex™ AP which are proven to provide highly economical operation.

Special Applications
CATALYSIS
The use of Resinex™ ion exchange resin continues to grow in
importance, especially for product development in the chemical
and pharmaceutical industry.
Special applications include the production of MTBE, ETBE,
TAME, fine chemicals and active substances in the
pharmaceutical industry, pharmaceutical intermediates and
numerous catalytic processes.
REMOVAL OF HEAVY METALS, BORON AND NITRATES
The presence of heavy metals in ground water may occur
in certain locations, the highly toxic characteristics of these
compounds is well researched. Heavy metals are extracted
from the soil by aggressive waters and Resinex™ selective
ion exchange resins help to control the concentration to
acceptable standards.
The range of products include Resinex™ CH-23 for selective
removal of heavy metals, plus specially developed products
Resinex™ CH-80 (mercury removal), Resinex™ BR-1 (boron
removal) and Resinex™ NR-1 (nitrate removal).
Resinex™ ion exchange resins provide a reliable platform for
production of high quality water to individual site requirements.
